Philosophy

I believe that educators have the responsibility of creating a respectful and trusting atmosphere that their students feel safe and comfortable in. A positive environment allows for culture and diversity to be celebrated, explored and encouraged within the classroom. This is an important aspect of being a teacher, as it influences and changes the thoughts, feelings, and perceptions that students have towards themselves and others in society.

I believe that teachers have the responsibility to create trustworthy student-teacher relationships. These relationships allow educators to understand the specific ways their students learn and function. To be a teacher, it is important to embrace the unique equalities of each individual student and accommodate lessons to promote different learning needs. Inclusion is an important aspect in my philosophy. I believe that students should be integrated into the classroom if it is beneficial to their personal growth. The specific learning outcomes should be presented to students in a way that they can all succeed and acquire lifelong knowledge.

In my classroom, I feel that students should be given an opportunity to gain knowledge and explore learning on their own but also have certain aspects to be delivered to them in a precise manner. As an early to middle years educator, I want to encourage my students to dream big, set goals and be tenacious on achieving what they desire to accomplish. I believe that teachers should be responsible for teaching and deepening students knowledge, not just facilitating this process.

The most important aspect I strive to foster in my classroom is creating a passion in my students for developing knowledge and becoming a lifelong learner. I will encourage students to become the best possible person they can be and set no limit on their goals and dreams. I hope that each day they are enthusiastic to return to class knowing that my primary requirement is success for themselves and others while giving their best effort to explore ways to deepen their knowledge.
